12 Days at Bleakly Manor... This Dickensian Christmas story, set in 1850, was such a treat! This one comes alone as or as one of the three books in the collection Once Upon a Dickens Christmas.
A Castaway in Cornwall... I just finished this book since I was reading along for the October book club read with Lou of Christian Faith and Fiction. I liked it! This is set in Cornwall in 1813. We have a shipwreck, a castaway, and a young woman who is a bit lost in the world, relationally at least. It has that slower, prosaic kind of writing at times but still leaves you wanting to know more.
Fawkes... this is about to be a mouthful- this one is a young adult historical fiction fantasy. Phew. I occasionally like YA, often love historical fiction, and almost never like fantasy. I was interested in the Guy Fawkes storyline (set in 1604!) but was otherwise unsure of how this one would go. I liked it! The fantasy wasn't too over-the-top for me, the characters were well-developed, and the story itself was rich.
No Ocean Too Wide... This novel is set partially in England and partially in Canada. This is the story of a group of siblings who is sent to an orphanage while their mother is ill in the hospital and are subsequently placed on a ship to be adopted out in Canada. Their older sister works to find them and it's just an overall good read. Set in 1909.
Once Upon a Wardrobe... This is a lovely story set in 1950 in Worcestershire, about a young woman whose little brother is dying and obsessed with the brand new story The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. She sets out to find out more from CS Lewis and they both grow along the way.
Shadows of Swanford Abbey... Set in 1820, this is a delightful little mystery set in a big hotel. We have a potential ghost story, a mad writer, a murder! The back described it as Jane Austen meets Agatha Christie and I found that to be a perfect description!
A Tale of Two Hearts... I really liked this Christmas story about inheritance and a scam, set in 1853. This one comes alone as an ebook or as one of the three books in the collection Once Upon a Dickens Christmas.
So if you missed that, my England reads have all come from the past- 1604, 1813, 1820, 1850, 1853, 1909, and 1950. I'd like to read more England Christian fiction stories and I'd especially like to move a bit into the present from time to time too.
Here are some of the books I hope to eventually read: The Letter from Briarton Park (1811 Lamby) // The Barrister and the Letter of Marque (1818 London) // The House at the End of the Moor (1861 Devon) // An Ivy Hill Christmas (1822 London) // The London Restoration (1945 London) // Across the Bluee (1909 English Channel) // Shadows of Ladenbrooke Manor (1954 and 2014 Clevedon) // If I Were You (1940 London) // Catching the Wind (1940 and 2017 London) // The Secrets of Paper and Ink (1800s and modern-day Cornwall)
I would gladly accept any recommendations for any England-set Christian fiction you have enjoyed!

Thanks so much for your comments! I always read them, don't always have time to answer quickly. Sorry about that!
